Winter Fun in Wellington

Lily Scheurich and Swag

The Skyland Farm team traveled to the Winter Equestrian Festival circuit in Wellington, Florida, for the start of the 2026 show season. It’s been such a great experience for our seasoned veterans as well as our new partnerships as they learn and achieve their goals in the hunters, jumpers and equitation.

Our highlights are many, and here are just a few so far with more to come as the circuit winds down and spring approaches.

Congratulations to Lily Scheurich and her Swag for making their WEF debut a winning one in early February when they were awarded the Children’s Hunter, 14 and under, reserve championship in the highly contested division. Additionally, thank you and kudos to Liza Towell Boyd for riding Swag to winning performances in the Green 3’3” division.

Eleanor Green and Mecentiso PS

Congratulations also to Eleanor Green on her new horse Mecentiso PS on their three double-clean jumper performances this weekend, one being her 1.15m debut! We are so excited about this new combination!

WEF WCHR Week 6 was one to remember for the team! Lily and Swag were WCHR Children’s Hunter, 14 and under, champions and additionally she and her groom Roberto Padron Castro where awarded $500 apiece for Lily and Swag being the highest-scoring Children’s Hunter in all sections!

Eleanor Green and her Jus D’O and Ava Papez and her Hamilton both received super ribbons in their respective divisions. Eleanor also had a beautiful ride in the International Ring in the Junior Hunters on a gorgeous day.

The next stop was an awesome birthday dinner at ECHO for Jen Scheurich where we celebrated with friends and family. Then to top it off we did the Equestrian Aid Foundation 5k, and Denice’s daughter, Michelle Pais, won her age group. Kudos to Michelle’s running company, Soleful, for being a presenting sponsor. It was a really special week!

We also had fun highlights and memories from WEF 7-9.

Some standouts were Ava and Hamilton receiving impressive scores and ribbons. Ollivander and Frances Kelly (on loan from Finally Farm) rocked it in the Medium Pony Hunter division. And Lily made an impressive jumper debut on Jen Scheurich’s wonderful mare Bliss.

Additionally, Eleanor and her new mount Mecentiso PS had lovely rounds in the jumpers and equitation. Eleanor also bid farewell to her longtime partner, Jus D’O. He went back to his owner, Mimi Colette Frei, for some well deserved down time. We will all cheer him on when he resumes his next chapter for a lucky person.

Caroline “Mosie” Pennington joined us for the month of March, and we look forward to her being back and joining our team.

Ava Papez and Hamilton

WEF 10 was also a great week for Skyland Farm. Swag and Lily completed their first 3’3” Junior Hunter division and won the under saddle. Mosie and Amazing were awesome, moving up the ladder to conclude their weekend with a good ribbon in the 1.15m Junior Jumper Classic.

Ava and Hamilton had quite impressive scores, 80-86, and ribbons in the competitive Children’s Hunter division. Ava also rocked it the jumper ring and placed third and fifth with Billy Skipper and S & L Zelenskyy. Lily and Bliss were also successful in the jumper ring after having a storied career as an amazing hunter.
