Michele Trufant and Brume Barbotiere
September brought wonderful show weeks for the Skyland Farm team.
While Michele Trufant, Lily Scheurich, Caitlin Horan and Madi Hitchen showcased their amazing jumpers at the Piedmont Jumper Classic in Upperville, Virginia, Eleanor Green well represented Team Skyland at the Capital Challenge Equitation Showcase in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Everyone had top ribbons with great rides at both venues.
A special thank you to our Piedmont show pit crew, Charlotte, Elaina and Caia. Additionally, we thank Katherine Butler and her Parley Row team for all their help with Eleanor at the Capital Challenge. It certainly takes a village to produce such great results at two venues simultaneously!
The most important shout-out is to our amazing partners who make this possible:
Brume Barbotiere with Michele; Bliss and Lily; Banberry Cross Abu and Fionn Pride with Madi; Doman with Caitlin; and Mecentiso PS and Eleanor.
Lily Scheurich and Swag
We had a great week at the Maryland Horse and Pony show to kick of September.
Some highlights:
Lily Scheurich won the Sportsmanship Award as well as being reserve champion in the 3’3” Younger Junior Hunter division with her lovely mount Swag. The pair also produced an outstanding handy round, scoring an 88!
Madi Hitchen and her Haymar’s Sassafrass earned the reserve championship in the Medium Pony Hunter division. Haymar’s Sassafrass is also proudly offered for sale/lease.
Eleanor Green and her mounts Mecintiso PS and Hollywood had impressive ribbons, including a win in the ASPCA Maclay on Mecinto PS and ribbons on both in the Maclay and Hamel regional competitions.
Our Team Captain, Caitlin Horan, and Doman won their first blue in the jumper division with additional ribbons in all their classes. We are so PROUD of our special team leader. She and Doman, aka Noah, have worked so hard to accomplish this success. Immense thank you to Doman’s owner, Leslie Kopp, for putting this combination together.
Mary Lou Glover’s Blush with Caia Blair had super ribbons in the highly contested Small/ Medium Children’s Pony division including an impressive third place in the Classic.

Caia Blair and Blush
And kudos to Caia Blair and Mary Lou Glover’s perfect pony Blush on their reserve championship at the highly competitive Middleburg Classic earlier in the month! Way to go!
