Super Times at Upperville and Loudoun

Mosie Pennington and Karlijn De Mariposa

The Skyland Farm team had two fantastic weeks at the Upperville Colt & Horse Show and the Loudoun Benefit Horse Show in June. We’re so fortunate to have these two exceptional competitions in our backyard, and this year was especially rewarding with such great equine partners.

Special kudos to Caroline “Mosie” Pennington and her Karlijn De Mariposa. The pair earned the Junior Jumper 1.10m championship with two impressive blue ribbons. They topped the 2b jump-off class and the speed class over 14 other competitors!

Chloe Welsh and Happy Girl

Chloe Welsh and her Happy Girl also posted excellent results in the jumper ring. Their amazing consistency in the 1.0m Junior Jumpers included a second in the speed class, third in the jump-off class and fourth in the highly contested 1.05m Classic with 20 entries.

Not to be forgotten-Happy Birthday Lily Scheurich! It’s great to have an Upperville birthday!

The following week’s Loudoun Benefit also added impressive ribbons to the Skyland banner. '

Skyland Farm’s Ollivander picked up excellent ribbons in the Medium Ponies with Lily Scheurich and Sienna Rossano aboard.

Karlijin De Mariposa and Mosie moved up to the 1.15m/1.20m Junior Jumpers and posted impressive performances, including a fourth place in the power and speed out of 26 entries.

Happy Girl and Chloe continued their 1.0m success and added clear rounds and good ribbons to their collection.

Eleanor Green and Mecentiso PS

Banbury Cross ABU and Madilyn Hitchen tackled the Schooling Jumpers and produced clear rounds over some challenging courses. Madilyn also rode Haymar’s Sassafrass to second place in the VHSA/Marshall+Sterling Pony Medal and picked up two third-place ribbons in the Medium Pony Hunters in a competitive division of 20. As icing on the cake, they placed second out of 45 in the $500 Pony Hunter Classic!

Eleanor Green and Mecentiso PS claimed excellent ribbons in the Equitation classes, with highlights being third in the Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search and third in the VHSA/Marshall+Sterling Hunt Seat Medal.

Swag and Lily Scheurich trotted to impressive under saddle ribbons while also solidifying their 3’3” Junior Hunter performances, including multiple ribbons over fences in a very competitive division.

Doman and Caitlin Horan gained great mileage in the Schooling Jumpers and the .85m Junior/Amateur Jumpers, with an impressive fifth out of 48 in a jump-off class.
